Pergola

Behind the Centennial Hall, there is a magnificent Pergola in the shape of an ellipse. It was built at the beginning of the 20^th century around an artificial pond in the eastern part of Wrocław.

A Century Exhibition planned in the anniversary of winning the battle of Lipsk in 1813 was a part of the ceremony to remember the growth of Prussia's role in Europe.  Pergola was placed on the northeast side of Century Hall. It was designed by Hans Poelzig as two rows of poles made of reinforced concrete with bars on the top with grapeseeds on it. Primarily it was confirmed to built on august 31st 1912. Later it was redesigned and the construction works were finished in February of 1913. According to data the length of the pergola is up to 640 meters. On June 4^th 2009 a brand new multimedia fountain started working. It used visual and audio effects to create a unique performance. Near pergola, there is also a Japanese garden and a big part of Szczytnicki park.
